![]() I suppose, because this is November and Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, I am very sensitive to being thankful. It's somewhat easy to look around at the beauty of the season and thank the Lord for it. The fall sunsets, the tree leaves turning colors, the brisk morning breezes, all seem to bring a sense of freshness. Although fall is the season for trees and plants, to go dormant, it's still my most favorite time of year. Being thankful, is easier for some, than for others. Personally, I believe it's a state of decision. Which reminds me of the old time movie Pollyanna, where she was known for the 'glad game'. It seems her attitude was that no matter what she faced, she found something to be glad about. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, "In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus." IN everything...that means when we're surrounded by negativity or during an overwhelming situation we are to give thanks! Just like Pollyanna, we can find something to be glad about, some notion of gratitude worth considering. I know what some of you are thinking. You're saying, "Really? Are you for real? How can one be thankful in the midst of a sickness, an accident, or even in the heart of disaster?" Listen children of God, the only thing that's going to get us through those times of sickness, accidents or disasters IS God! No matter how deep the pit, He can always get us out. It takes faith, belief and an attitude of gratitude. If you will recall, the plight of Paul and Silas chained up in the dungeon of dungeons. (Acts 16) Over a process of time, they were praying and singing to God, when suddenly a great earthquake shook the prison. The doors opened and the chains fell off. God sits on the throne of praise we build. (Ps. 22:3) Thanksgiving and praise always precede the power of God. So if you want to see breakthrough in your life and the power of God operate in a circumstance, put on a garment of praise and give Him thanks for your deliverance and victory! The older I get, I find the more I'm thankful, the more I have to be thankful for. Why not give it a try, sit down with a piece of paper and pen, begin writing down all the things you appreciate. Before you realize, you'll find a page full of blessings, an attitude of joy and reason for giving thanks. {Heb. 13:15 "Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to his name."}
