![]() I recently attended a fun baby shower. You know the kind with games and food. Needless to say, it was a really great event. I always love seeing people get blessed and the family was! One of the requests to the guests were, that we write down 'parenting tips'. Of course we can always thinks of the "do nots", because we reflect back on all the shoulda, coulda, woulda's. However, I was inspired by the Spirit to remember a powerful 'tip'. (It works for adults too.) To me one of the most important things in raising children, is to measure all things by the Word of God. By this I mean, we should always take every circumstance, problem, attitude, issue and all other life business and weigh it against the Word. The answer to life's matters is in the Bible. We can find out how to handle fearful times, hurtful moments, angry occasions, and how to receive for our needs, instead of worrying. I've learned that worry can not change one thing. Worry will not pay the bills, keep your children safe, or heal your body. Worry is prolonged fear that only keeps you out of faith. 2 Tim. 3:16 say's "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, or correction, for instruction in righteousness:" This leads me to believe that we can get whatever we need to handle any situation, through prayer and the direction of the Holy Spirit a solution in God's Word. Teaching children, and coming to the understanding ourselves, that we can find true answers for real life problems, gives us hope and encouragement. We come to recognize that we can reach out to God and receive the help we need becoming less dependent on ourselves or others. Thus, Pro. 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." With all this in mind, I want to motivate you to teach your children, your grandchildren, even inspire yourself to take daily life situations and find the 'Word' solution for them. God has an answer for handling matters. I close with Jesus' words in John, "If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you." Your answer's in the Word of God. Pastor Ginny Gulotta
